LASG to Upgrade Oracle Enterprise Business Suite to Boost E-Governance

 The Lagos State Government has revalidated its adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a way of boosting efficiency. The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Sam Egube, said the State would continue to introduce ICT-based initiatives and reforms that aim to bring forward developmental progress. He made this commitment at the stakeholders’ engagement workshop for the LASG Systems upgrade Projects organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
 “ICT allows citizens and businesses to interact with the Government, helps with the dissemination of information, and supports commercial relationships with private sector organisations, among other things,” says Egube. 
 Presenting a strategic overview of the LASG Systems upgrade, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ms. Olayinka Fashola, hinted that the upgrade became necessary to improve service delivery in tandem with the prompt and efficient service delivery hallmark of this administration. Fashola added that to, however, optimise and enhance the features as well as the functionality of the Oracle Enterprise Business Suites (EBS), the State is embarking on the upgrade of the existing modules to the latest version and also introducing additional modules.
“This application is introducing to us new digital ways of doing business, such as optimised performance, speed, efficiency, and the ability to integrate with third-party applications”, the perm sec explained.
She highlighted the benefits of the application upgrade including the reduction of error in business, Project Management, Speed and Efficiency, Optimised performance; Reduced operational costs, better workforce management, and the ability to integrate with third-party applications, among others.
Pointing out that the upgrade would also bring governance closer to citizens, Fashola maintained that the State was moving into the workplace whereby the use of paperwork would be greatly reduced as most processes would be digitalised.
The Managing Director of Soft Alliance, Dr. Bisi Aina, in his presentations, said the first phase of the project is expected to go live by July while the second phase will go live by September 2022.
Aina also outlined that the project would reduce operational costs and enhance workforce management, giving access to different financial reports for quick decision-making.
