The Bauchi Emirate Council has categorically denied endorsing the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, for 2023 presidency.
The Council made the denial in a statement dated 11 May 2022 and signed by its Spokesman, Babangida Hassan Jahun.
The council described the publication as “fake”. It claimed that such was meant to cause confusion and disharmony among the citizenry.
The spokesman recounted the Emir’s remark during Osinbajo’s visit and maintained that the Emir has no business with politics.
Quoting the Emir, Jahun said, “We believe that power belongs to Allah and he gives it to whoever he wants and at the same time, we are not politicians, we can’t participate in politics but we can only advise wisely.”
Osinbajo aims to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 elections. He is contesting under the All Progressives Congress and his candidacy has, so far, stir the waters.
