The Lagos State Government, Monday, donated cash gifts, household items, food and drinks to various orphanages, homes and children’s centres across the state to Mark the Year 2022 Public Service Week.

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said this is a way of identifying with the children and the homes during the celebration.

Speaking during the presentation of the donations to representatives of the beneficiaries on Monday at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Muri-Okunola commended the presentation committee for the impressive and laudable effort towards the success of the Public Service Week.

He maintained that the donation was made possible through the contributions of public servants.

He further expressed appreciation to all civil servants, especially those that contributed to making the segment of the week-long event a huge success.

“Let me use this great opportunity to, first of all, applaud the committee saddled with the planning of the presentation.

“As you can see, all the items donated were not from the government but from public servants to provide succour to homes, orphanages and charity organisations. This is quite impressive.”

On behalf of other beneficiaries, the Matron of Motherless Babies Home, Lekki, Mrs Modupeola Adebukola, thanked the Lagos Public Service for the donation.

Adebukola described the gesture as an act of love and kindness that would for long be remembered and appreciated by the beneficiaries.

She prayed that God would continue to bless and protect their homes. The matron hinted, “This gesture is what we least expected on a day like this, especially from public servants.”

Some of the beneficiariess include Motherless Babies Home, Lekki; Heart of Gold Children Hospice, Surulere; Missionaries of Charity, Ikeja; Children Centre, Idi-Araba; Tripple Passion Home Initiative, Magodo and the Old Peoples Home, Yaba among others.
