NEMA Receives Another 158 Stranded Nigerians from Libya

…Two female returnees down with mental health issues

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Tuesday, received another batch of 158 stranded Nigerians from Libya.

The returnees comprised 49 adults female, seven female children, five female infants. Also, there were 83 male adults, six male children and eight male infants.

They arrived aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737 – 800 with registration number 5A-DMG at 5.15pm at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos State.

Four persons, including three females, among those repatriated had varying degrees of health challenges. A female had grave burns, two others had serious mental health issues and one young man had a fractured leg. 

The Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, assured the returnees that the Federal Government would not relent in making the youths have level playing grounds where they can achieve their potentials in whatever fields they choose.

The director, represented by NEMA Lagos Territorial Office Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, implored them to shun vices. 

He added that a country can only thrive in a peaceful and serene atmosphere to enable them best in the upliftment of the nation of our aspirations.

Officials of NEMA, International Organisation for Migration (IMO), Nigeria Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migration and Internally displaced Persons and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) received received Libyan returnees.
