The Managing Director/CEO, Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), Muminu Badmus, has promised residents of Lagos Island improved service delivery to the area.
Badmus, an Engineer, made this pledge when the Lagos Island Connect (LIC) team led by its co-founder, Ms. Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, visited the Corporation’s Head Office at Ijora-Olopa.
The visit was to discuss the lingering issue of water scarcity in Lagos Island.
According to the LWC boss, the corporation is currently addressing the issues surrounding the water shortage and gave an assurance that the matter would soon be resolved.
Badmus explained that a section of the Onikan Mini-Waterworks responsible for the production and supply of potable water to the affected area on Lagos Island got burnt, emphasising that the process of repairs has been initiated.
The CEO further assured residents that plans were also underway to rehabilitate the 70 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Adiyan and 45 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) Iju Waterworks to boost water supply across the state, particularly on Lagos Island.
Other members of the visiting delegation to LWC were the Lagos Island Council Manager, Mr. Hakeem Disu, and LIC Community Mobilisation/Liaison Manager, Mr. Layeni Aliu.
Meanwhile, LIC is a non-governmental grganisation created to partner the local authorities on programmes and activities that would change the narrative of Lagos Island Local Government Area.
