…LASG Seals off Havilah Event Centre in VI
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, Saturday, ordered the arrest of the host of a party in the Oniru area of the state where gallons of petrol were distributed to guests as souvenirs.
This order is coming after the event hall, Havilah Centre at Oniru, was sealed off by the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad Oniru for breaching public safety rules.
In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, described the act as “reprehensible”.
Reacting to the video that went viral, showing the half filled 10 litres of white and blue kegs set on the floor, the Lagos State Information Commissioner, Gbenga Omotoso, said the state’s safety commission has commenced investigation.
Omotoso, however, classified the practice as dangerous. He, therefore, enjoined Lagosians to desist from actions that can lead to loss of lives and property.
As seen in the video, the kegs had stickers with the picture of a lady and a caption, ‘The Erelu Okin Foundation Installation Party’.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media are commending the gesture of the party host, saying it is a succour to the fuel scarcity and the price hike across the country.
