Evacuation Flight to Ukraine Rescheduled for Friday 

The Federal Government, Thursday, rescheduled the flights to evacuate Nigerians fleeing Ukraine from Poland for Friday, March 4. 

The chartered flights, Air Peace and Maz Air, were initially billed to pick up stranded Nigerians on Thursday, March 3rd. 

It was, however, postponed following a delay in preparing passengers for the check-in process. This was according to an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bolaji Akinremi. 

On Wednesday March 2 this year, the Federal Government  had announced approval of $8.5m for the repatriation of her citizens. The pickup flights were to be headed in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. 

Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, divulged that since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 2,000 Nigerians have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries like Poland among others.
