The coalition of Igbo youth groups has endorsed the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 Presidential elections.
In a communique issued at its meeting in Enugu, the group agreed to work for the PDP. It, however, clarified that the endorsement is not yet final, as they are still consulting.
Speaking during the meeting, the Director of Civil Society Organisations in the Atiku Support Organisation (ASO), Michael Odoh expressed that this move should be seen as an Igbo project.
“That is the fastest way for an Igbo presidency to be achieved,” while adding that the Igbos needed restructuring more and “Atiku is going to restructure Nigeria”.
On his part, the president of the Coalition, Mazi Umeh Chimaobi, promised that the body would continue to consult more and discuss with stakeholders the need to adopt the project.
The coalition further condemned the burning of an INEC office in Enugu, saying that the Igbos must begin to play strategic politics to achieve their aim.
